Jennifer Bell, a 3rd-grade teacher at Deer Pointe Elementary School in Fremont, Nebraska, is requesting a grant of $271.22 to foster hands-on learning in her classroom. The grant, titled "Engaging Students in Hands on Learning in Reading and Math/STEM Activities," aims to build a library of manipulatives for students to use during "choice time." This will provide students with engaging, hands-on alternatives to screen time, allowing them to practice and review reading and math skills while Ms. Bell works with small groups or individual students. By giving students the power of choice, she hopes to increase their engagement and empower them in their learning.
